For a variety of reasons, Clevedon has been ranked as one of the best places to live in the UK. Back in early 2022, estate Agent Strutt and Parker featured the seaside attraction in its list of the top 200 most desirable locations.
Overlooking the Bristol Channel, the coastal town 15 miles from Bristol has been described as “independently minded”. It also has elegant Victorian villas, indy shops and eateries, together with possibly the country’s prettiest pier.
Here’s what the property experts had to say about Clevedon:
Eat
Places loved include family-run British/Italian restaurant Murrays of Clevedon (plus bar, bakery, deli and wine shop) and the Modern British fare at Puro. Tiffin at the Beach has views across the estuary and you can expect inventive bread and cakes from Pullin’s Bakery.
North Somerset’s first micropub, The Fallen Tree, is worth a visit and run by Twisted Oak brewery.
Shop
For independent shops, try hip home wares at Midgely Green, Twentyfour for shoes, Clevedon Music Shop, Books on the Hill and the artisan Clevedon Sunday Market first Sunday of the month between the seafront, Hill Road and Alexandra Road. There are chains downtown.
