Three people have been taken to hospital as the PSNI confirmed the M2 in Belfast has re-opened following a multi-vehicle crash.

The collision happened close to Duncrue Street shortly after 1:40pm

In an update a PSNI spokesperson said: “Road users are advised that the M2 southbound has fully re-opened following an earlier collision involving multiple vehicles at its Fortwilliam junction.

“An update will be provided in due course.”

A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) said they received a 999 call at 13:27 on Friday following reports of an RTC in the M2 area, Belfast.

“NIAS despatched an Ambulance Officer, two Rapid Response Paramedics, and two emergency Ambulances to the incident,” added the spokesperson.

“Three people were taken to Royal Victoria Hospital by Ambulance.”
