As he stumbled and stammered through his trainwreck interview, Prince Andrew audaciously claimed he had broken off his friendship with billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
But two months after the stated alleged parting of ways, he emailed Epstein that the pair would “play some more soon.”
The bombshell emails were seen by Bloomberg News and read aloud in a London courtroom. The correspondence was revealed as part of a filing by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), defending an appeal by Epstein buddy Jes Staley, the Barclays CEO.
The disgraced Duke of York attempted to get ahead of the Epstein scandal in a 2019 BBC sitdown and it was an unmitigated disaster.
Andrew told interviewer Emily Maitlis: “I ceased all contact with (Epstein) after I was aware that he was under investigation and that was later in 2006 and I wasn’t in touch with him again until 2010.”
When she asked him if there had been any contact, he again stated: “No contact.”
Maitlis added: “Did you see or speak to him again?” Andrew said: “No.”
But on the same day Andrew, 64, wrote to Epstein, a sensational photo of the rogue royal emerged. It was a snapshot of Andrew, his longtime pal, Ghislaine Maxwell and an Epstein victim, then 17-year-old Virginia Giuffre.
Epstein, 66, was arrested in July 2019 and died behind bars a month later. He had been charged with sex trafficking and federal conspiracy charges.
Andrew’s missive to Epstein was dated February 2011 and he wrote to the power pedophile: “Keep in close touch and we’ll play some more soon.”
Besides Andrew, Epstein also remained tight with the newly appointed British ambassador to Washington, Peter Mandelson.
As for Staley, his Epstein connections led to disgrace after he lied about his friendship with the sex trafficker. He too claimed he had severed ties with Epstein before becoming CEO at Barclays.
Emails produced in court showed otherwise and that Staley was in contact with Epstein until at least 2015.
In one exchange, Andrew was encouraged to spend time with Epstein and Staley. They made a dinner date.
Epstein wrote to the prince: “Jes Staley will be in London on next tue afternoon, if you have time.”
The fallen Windsor and younger brother of King Charles has insisted he is innocent of any wrongdoing. Andrew even went so far as to claim he had never met Guiffre.
But the photo says otherwise, she says, and she launched a lawsuit against the prince.
In 2022, the pair reached an agreement in principle to settle the suit. It cost Andrew an estimated $20 million.
He admitted no wrongdoing but said he regretted his association with Epstein.
Giuffre — now Roberts — claimed that Epstein and his second banana Maxwell had sexually trafficked her to the prince when she was underage. Maxwell is now serving a 20-year sentence in a U.S. federal prison for her role in Epstein’s sex trafficking scheme.
Andrew was stripped of his military titles, royal patronages, and HRH titles. He was also forced to give up his role as a working royal and stripped of much of his income.
