A warning has been issued after children were approached by unknown men. Police said that two incidents have been reported in Chippenham this week.
The first took place in Woodlands Road on Wednesday (January 29). A boy, 12, was approached by a man at the junction with Downing Street at around 3.10pm on Wednesday (January 29).
He ran away from the man who is described as being mixed race, around 6ft tall, of a medium build, and aged in his 30s. The suspect was wearing a black hoodie, dark denim shorts and a black ‘Covid’ style face mask.
A 14-year-old girl was then approached by a man in a car as she walked down Union Road at around 8.15am yesterday (Thursday, January 30). He repeatedly offered her a lift which she declined.
The man was described as being middle aged, white but with a tanned complexion and in his mid 30s. He had thinning straight black hair and was wearing rectangular glasses. He was wearing a black long sleeved t-shirt and blue jeans.
Wiltshire Police said: “Extra patrols are being carried out in the area and officers have been liaising closely with local schools to provide reassurance. Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call 101 quoting the relevant log number.”
