Rory McIlroy made the ideal start to his 2025 PGA Tour season when he made just the second ace of his US career in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Playing alongside his European Ryder Cup team mate Ludvig Aberg at Spyglass Hill in today’s first round, the world number number three missed a 12 footer at the 10th and three-putted the par-five 11th before making a birdie two at the 12th, which was his third hole of the day.
He could have been three-under after five holes but missed a 15 footer at the 13th and then three putted the par-five 14th from 82 feet for for par.
But his frustration was soon forgotten when he took dead aim at the 119-yard 15th and watched his short iron clip the flagstick as it dropped straight into the hole for a near slam dunk hole-in-one.

It was McIlroy second ace on the PGA Tour and his first since he holed a five iron at the 215-yard eighth in the first round of the Travelers Championship at TPC Highlands in 2023.
It also briefly gave him an early share of the first round lead in an event played at Spyglass Hill and Pebble Beach Golf Links.
According to PGA Tour statistics guru Justin Ray, McIlroy’s second PGA Tour hole in one came in his 910th career round.
