Emilia Fox has addressed rumours that she had secretly tied the knot with her partner Jonathan Stadlen.
The 50-year-old actress disclosed that although TV producer Jonathan proposes to her “constantly,” she repeatedly says no. However, the couple decided to buy “very ordinary wedding rings” last year as a “sign of love”.
Silent Witness star Emilia says the wedding rings prompted speculation that the pair had secretly got married. Her friends even quizzed her about why they weren’t invited to the ceremony, she says.

However, Emilia insists the rings were “inexpensive” and merely a way to celebrate their relationship. Speaking to Woman’s Weekly, she said: “The rings got seen by the press and some people thought we’d gone off on some sort of secret wedding. We hadn’t.”
The star, who lives in London with Jonathan and her 14-year-old daughter Rose, whom she shares with former partner Jeremy Gilley, was previously married to Jared Harris for five years.
She says finding love with Jonathan is “amazing” but the couple “work hard” at it, reports the Express.
Speaking to WomanandHome magazine, she said: “When you reach a certain age and have experiences – I’ve been living my own way with Rose for a long time – you have to keep working on communication and working out what we’re bringing to this relationship in our histories.
“The good things but also the bad things and how to work that out together.”
She describes Jonathan’s daily marriage proposals as “very romantic”, but confesses she is yet to agree to a second wedding. She further explained: “Jonathan asks me to marry him every single day but we’re not officially married.”
“Just saying we love each other each day has been enough for us in this moment. It has felt very romantic because there’s a choice every day to go, ‘Yes, I really want to marry you today.'”
Emilia has portrayed Dr Nikki Alexander in Silent Witness for the past 21 years. The series centres on a group of forensic pathologists, with Emilia starring alongside David Caves, who plays Jack Hodgson.
Silent Witness will be broadcast on Monday at 9pm on BBC One.
