Davina McCall’s partner has addressed rumours that they could be set to tie the knot this year.

During a recent interview with Closer magazine, Michael Douglas looked back on a difficult year for the pair amid the former Big Brother presenter’s recent health battle.

Asked whether he could be set to propose this year, the celebrity hairstylist simply responded: “I don’t know.”

While he initially gave very little away he explained exactly why there are no immediate plans for the pair to marry anytime soon. “We often talk about it, but I don’t think so. What I love about us is we’re not tied to each other and that’s what keeps us there in a way,” he added.

Explaining that they don’t feel a particular desperation to marry anytime soon, he said that they were still “working out” what it would mean for them to be married.

Speculation for months that the pair could tie the not, with a source recently telling New magazine that Davina may be considering marriage on the back of her recent health battle.

The source said: “Davina has always said they won’t get married but after this, she will be rethinking about their future. It’s given her a lot to think about.”

It was just two months ago that the 57-year-old took to Instagram to tell her followers that she had been diagnosed as having a benign colloid cyst, but after undergoing successful surgery she claimed that she is “on the other side”.

The Long Lost Family host revealed that she had noticed one significant change in her health since the operation. She said: “My short-term memory is a bit remiss but that’s something I can work on. I’m writing down everything I’m doing to keep myself feeling safe.”

In a career that has spanned decades, it is possibly for her role hosting Big Brother that Davina is best-known. But, away from her role hosting the reality TV show, Davina continued to forge a career for herself upon leaving the Channel 4 show in 2010. Since then, she has gone on to co-present Long Lost Family on ITV and is now a panellist on the ever popular Masked Singer.
