Lorraine Kelly faced a hilarious predicament on her show this Monday (January 27) as it kicked off with The Masked Singer UK’s Mel Giedroyc, who had been recently revealed.

The TV personality had been concealing her identity for weeks on the ITV show, performing as the character Teeth and baffling everyone with her crafty hints. After belting out Neighbours during the weekend’s episode, Mel found herself in the bottom two and was subsequently voted off.

Appearing on Lorraine still donned in her elaborate costume post-reveal, the former Great British Bake Off star’s attire proved to be less than ideal for a sit-down chat. She arrived in the full teeth costume, causing a comical scene where the door wouldn’t close, prompting her to ask Lorraine: “Are we on air Lorraine?” reports the Daily Record.

“We’re on,” confirmed Lorraine, as Mel tried to settle into her seat, with the host expressing doubt: “I don’t know if we can sit down to be fair. What do you think?”

Considering the size of Mel’s costume against the chair, Lorraine advised: “It’s not going to work is it?” Despite this, the former Bake Off star persisted in her attempt to sit down but it didn’t go to plan.

Lorraine reacted with a mix of concern and amusement: “Oh no don’t. Oh jeez. Oh no,” as Mel struggled to fit into the grey armchair, her head engulfed completely into the huge costume.

Growing concerned, the presenter intervened: “Ohh no, now I can’t see you, you’ve disappeared. I would get back up and do that,” as they opted to continue the interview standing for its entirety.

In the previous year, Lorraine also joined in on the guessing-game show, taking to the stage as Owl to perform a few hits. Having experienced the show first-hand and knowing the difficulty of keeping silent, she was eager to find out who Mel had informed about her surprise appearance.

Who did you tell, probed the host. “I told my husband, I didn’t tell the girls and they are a bit frosty at the minute. They are livid actually,” Mel admitted.

Lorraine concurred: “I told my husband too. I had to tell Steve otherwise, he would have wondered where I was going and I had to practise my songs in the shower.”

Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV1, from 9am.
