A New Jersey teacher who was hit with sexual assault charges for allegedly abusing a 13-year-old former student and getting pregnant by him lied to friends about her baby’s father.
Laura Caron, 34, threw herself a baby shower to celebrate, but told pals that her baby daddy was “out of the picture.”
“She had a baby shower. She was happy about it,” Caron’s friend Darlene Dowless told the New York Post.
“But she didn’t identify who the father was, at least not to me,” she continued.
“She just said that he wouldn’t be involved and was out of the picture.”
Dowless noted that Caron got hundreds of dollars in gifts from friends at the shower.
Caron was arrested on Jan. 15 and charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
She was released from jail on Tuesday after a judge ruled she was not a flight risk, the Post reported.
Caron taught fifth grade Middle Township Elementary School Number 2 in New Jersey when she got pregnant. She had the baby in 2019.

The paternity of the child was a mystery to everyone but Caron — until the teen’s father/baby’s grandfather noticed the resemblance between the teacher’s baby and his own son in a Facebook post last month.
An investigation was launched after which authorities alleged that the boy was actually the father.
Caron was reportedly close with the boy’s family, with their boys and sister allowed to sleep over at the former teacher’s house a couple night a week.
The three siblings even lived permanently with Caron between 2016 and 2020, sharing a bedroom.
But cops alleged that the relationship soon became sexual between Caron and the boy, now 19.
The two had remained in contact until his father made the December Facebook post.
The alleged victim’s sister told prosecutors that she remembered going to sleep with her brother in the same room, but woke up to find him sleeping in Caron’s bed.
According to cops, she claimed Caron began sleeping with her brother when he was 11 years old.
