In a viral TikTok video, a shopper has shared his experience of collecting two ‘Too Good To Go’ bags from Marks and Spencer – and his response over the amount of food says it all, not to mention the people who are keen to follow suit.

The smart customer, named Farrance couldn’t contain his excitement after buying the £5 bags, exclaiming: “I can’t believe how much food I just got off of this Too Good To Go order.”

Kicking off his video with a slice of honesty, Farrance admitted: “I’m pretty f**king skint at the moment and I figured this is actually a decent way to make me money stretch a bit further”.

The Too Good To Go scheme was started in Copenhagen in 2016 and is “on a mission to inspire and empower everyone to fight food waste together”. Their website states that their “app is the world’s largest marketplace for surplus food”. They go on to say, “We help users rescue good food from going to waste, offering great value for money at local stores, cafes and restaurants.”

Upon collecting his order from the Marks and Spencer outlet located at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton, he showed viewers that he’d bought a ‘surprise bag’ and a ‘bakery bag’. He delightedly said: “All of this food for less than a tenner, and I knew there was gonna be some stuff I could just chuck in my freezer, so this was a good idea to me”.

And he wasn’t wrong. Bakery goodies included a roasted hazelnut chocolatine, a cheese and onion twist, a cinnamon roll, a chocolate muffin, a savoury cheese scone, a chocolate twist, a bag of cookies, and a bag of doughnuts, all collectively worth about £13.60.

And the surprise bag did not disappoint either, with five plain bagels, an oat milkshake, a golden chicken and grains salad, a hearty loaf of farmhouse bread, a smoked ham and cheddar sub, a pack of six crumpets, peri peri chicken slices, a banana, and a cacao oat drink. For that, he’d be looking at a cost of about £22.50 – putting the grand estimated total at £36.10 – that’s a predicted saving of £27.10.

Chuffed with the bounty, Terrance went on: “All this much for not even £10, mate”, and his followers were quick to chime in with their take in the comments section.

One person was crestfallen: “Wish I didn’t have so many allergies. Looks amazing”, prompting a warm response from Farrance: “I did see a gluten free one but I understand your pain! At least they’re all individually wrapped!”.

People were convinced, with one enthusiast saying, “Okay, you’ve convinced me to finally try it, as long as I get pastries that aren’t hard as a rock I’ll be happy lol.”

And some had already joined the scheme, and had tips to provide: “The ham and cheese sandwiches are the best in too good to go deals. I freeze them and then cook them like a toastie. Stretch the bags life out more”.
