Emergency services attended the scene of an fire in south Belfast this afternoon.
The incident occurred at a property in Ebor Street shortly after 1pm and was dealt with just after 2:45.
It is believed the fire broke out at the property due to an accidental ignition.
Two appliances from Springfield Fire Station, one appliance from Central Fire Station and one appliance from Cadogan Fire Station attended the scene.
Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph, the occupant of the house said: “I managed to escape, there was lots of smoke, it was coming out of the windows.
“My ex-wife is out looking for my cat, it managed to escape.”
Several Fire appliances including the HART unit and ambulances are at the scene alongside the PSNI.
It’s understood the blaze is not being treated as suspicious.
A spokesman from the NIFRS said: “Firefighters were called to reports of a fire in a residential property. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used 2 hose reels and 1 jet to extinguish the fire.
“The cause of the fire is believed to have been accidental ignition and incident was dealt with by 2:46pm.”
