Two teenagers have been arrested and three guns have been seized by gardai following a routine traffic stop in Kerry.
It comes after a vehicle was stopped at a routine checkpoint in Tralee at approximately 10.30pm on Monday.
Gardai searched the vehicle after the driver failed a roadside drug test.
Three firearms, including two scoped rifles, and “a large quantity of ammunition” were seized.
Gardai said the seized items would be subjected to full ballistic examination while the vehicle was taken to Castleisland Garda station for forensic examination.
Two men in their late teens were arrested and detained at a Garda station in Co Kerry under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939.
Gardai said investigations are ongoing.
