Sharon Stone has shared her experiences of living next door to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in California. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been under fire recently, with former staff members accusing them of ignoring “distressing” allegations.

A recent report described Meghan, 43, as being “awful” to staff when things didn’t go her way. Following the cancellation of their Spotify podcast series, Archetypes, a source suggested that the couple “don’t know what changing the world means”.

To mark five years since they stepped back as senior working royals, Vanity Fair published an article featuring insights from those who have worked closely with the couple. The report revealed that since moving to Montecito, the pair have gained nicknames such as “the prince and the starlet” and “local villains”, as their presence has attracted outsiders to the town, making it difficult to get a table at a top local steakhouse.

Drawing a comparison to Princess Diana’s humanitarian work before her tragic death in1997, the source added, “Diana walked amongst land mines. Meghan couldn’t even say the word sl*t”. The insider also claimed that Meghan and Harry “want to be seen as people who want to change the world”.

Sharon Stone’s earlier remark lauding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s integration into the US has resurfaced, five years after their move stateside. In 2020, Stone had said: “The thing about them, which is so great, is that they didn’t come here to live off of our community, they came here to be a part of our community.”, reports the Express.

She added: “They’re a part of our community, they become a part, a giving, caring, participating part of our community. They’re not here, like ‘Would you like to kiss my butt? ‘”.

Vanity Fair also weighed in on Prince Harry, describing him as a “hapless if well-meaning man” and mentioning his consideration of interviewing contentious figures such as Vladimir Putin. The prince was quoted saying: “I have very bad childhood trauma. Obviously. My mother was essentially murdered. What is it about me that didn’t make me one of the bad guys?”

The magazine further speculated on Meghan Markle’s interactions with Royal household staff, noting that she may have been “really, really awful” following an initial period of being “warm and effusive”. As relations soured, Meghan reportedly became “cold and withholding toward the person she perceived to be responsible” for any errors.

Additionally, it’s claimed that Meghan had a habit of berating staff in a controlled tone on “any given Tuesday”. Insiders allege that difficulties often arose from Meghan and Harry’s own exacting standards.

Sources informed The Times that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex find these allegations “distressing”.
