Police investigating reports of vehicle tampering in south Belfast on Sunday have charged a man to court.

The 35-year-old has been charged with five counts of interference with vehicles, theft and common assault.

It follows reports of a man tampering with vehicles and related offences in South Parade, Deramore Avenue and Kimberly Drive in south Belfast on Sunday, January 19.

A man was later arrested on suspicion of vehicle tampering in the Dunmore Mews and Rosemount Gardens areas of north Belfast.

The man is set to appear before Belfast Magistrate’s Court on the morning of January 21.

A PSNI spokesman said: “Police investigating reports of tampering with motor vehicles in south Belfast on Sunday, 19th January have charged a man to court.

“The 35-year-old has been charged with five counts of interference with vehicles, theft and common assault.

“Reports of vehicle tampering and related offences were made in the Deramore Avenue, South Parade and Kimberley Drive areas of south Belfast.

“He is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday morning, 21st January. As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.”

The spokesman added that a report will be submitted in due course to the Public Prosecution Service “for consideration in relation to the north Belfast related occurrences”.
