ALBERTA’S AGONY
Recommended Videos
I’m not an Albertan, but I do feel for Premier Danielle Smith. While a Team Canada approach to Trump is preferable (and necessary), for nine years of Trudeau, Smith and Alberta have been crapped on by the federal government. Where was the Team Canada approach then? One of our own was being attacked, and the rest of the provinces didn’t really help out. After nine years of going it alone, it’s no wonder that’s the path she has chosen now.

(Trudeau never hesitated when he attacked Alberta and the Team Canada approach was only raised when it was convenient for him. His Liberal government put Canada in such a weak position)
NOT FIT TO LEAD
Re “Carbon tax off table” (Brian Lilley, Jan. 18): Someone please tell Mark Carney and Chrystia Freeland that there are no Canadian families relying on their carbon tax rebates. This is just another lie that the Liberals repeat so often that they hope you believe it. Amazing that this pair, who are largely to blame for Canada’s economic mess, now want you to believe that they are the ones to fix it. The “Fight for Canada” slogan is hypocritical coming from Freeland, since she would rather resign as finance minister than table a budget where she blew over $20 billion past her target deficit. These are not the people to be leading our country.

BAD JAYS MANAGEMENT
Even the most casual Blue Jays fan realizes the Mark Shapiro/Ross Atkins stumbling act has devastated the franchise for years in the future. Shapiro, had he allowed Alex Anthopoulos to stay on as general manager with final authority over team trades, may have been heralded the greatest president in Major League Baseball. Anthopoulos’ feats with the Atlanta Braves after leaving the Jays speak volumes. Atkins, although questionable in the GM seat, can’t be totally faulted as he’s Shapiro’s puppet who can’t even buy Kleenex without the president’s approval.

(And players who would consider playing in Toronto see this, too, and likely contributes to them not coming to the Jays)
