Carol Decker, who recently unmasked herself as Tattoo on The Masked Singer UK, has admitted to being “upset” following her departure from the show.

After a sing-off with Dressed Crab on the Saturday (January 18) episode, Tattoo was revealed to be the fourth contestant to exit the competition, much to the surprise of many, including Carol herself.

Appearing on This Morning with Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley on Monday (January 20), of T’Pau star Carol shared her feelings about the unexpected elimination.

“I was a bit bemused because I was very confident in my performances. So, when I ended up in the bottom two, I’ve got to say, I was a little shocked,” she confessed.

Despite the setback, Carol acknowledged the quality of her competitor: “But I had a great sing-off with Dressed Crab, who had a charismatic voice, a good voice, so you can’t be too arrogant about it.”

She continued, expressing her own and her team’s disappointment: “But I was a little shocked. I hate saying this, but my team were quite upset because they weren’t expecting it. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done, I was having the most fun and was a bit gutted, to be honest.”, reports the Mirror.

Carol also spoke fondly of her time on the show, describing her experience as “fantastic” and revealing some behind-the-scenes insights. She recounted how, upon joining the cast, she was immediately captivated by Tattoo’s “gorgeous” costume design.

“The process behind everything, the costume department – it’s off the scale,” she enthused.

The excitement of participating in The Masked Singer UK involves a shroud of secrecy, as one star describes the intense summer schedule: “There’s all the secrecy. You’ve got to meet up for your song choice meetings, your vocal coaching, a little bit of choreography, what they’ve got planned for your different songs. So, it takes up the whole of your summer. It’s fantastic.”

This celebrity also shared the challenges of performing incognito, mentioning how singing in costume was “very difficult” due to limited visibility, with only a light at the back of the studio serving as a guide.

The sixth series of The Masked Singer UK has been full of surprises, revealing familiar faces such as Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway and Bake Off’s Prue Leith, who were behind the masks of Spag Bol and Pegasus, respectively.

Adding to the list of unmasked celebrities, 90s pop icon Macy Gray was disclosed as the person behind Toad in the Hole on January 11.
