Three people have been taken to hospital after a two-vehicle crash in Co Down.

Emergency services were called to the incident in the Old Manse Road area of Banbridge, close to the A1 dual carriageway at around 2.38pm on Sunday afternoon.

An NI Ambulance Service (NIAS) spokesperson confirmed three people had been hospitalised following the crash.

“The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 2.38pm on Sunday January 19 following reports of a two-vehicle RTC near Old Manse Road, Banbridge,” they said.

“NIAS despatched one Rapid Response Paramedic, one HART crew, three Emergency Crews, one Intermediate Care Crew, one Ambulance Officer and an Ambulance Doctor to the scene.

“Ambulance Control also tasked the HEMS crew to attend by response car.

“Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, three patients were taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital.”

The A1 dual carriageway had been closed southbound between the exits to Dromore and Rathfriland, but has now reopened.
