Carol Decker, the renowned lead singer of 80s group T’Pau, has confessed she was ‘gutted’ to be eliminated from The Masked Singer so early. She was revealed as Tattoo on Saturday evening (January 18).
Despite delivering a stellar performance of The Killers’ Human, Carol failed to secure enough votes from the studio audience, leading to her unmasking at the end of this week’s episode.
Following the audience vote, Carol’s Tattoo faced off against Dressed Crab in the sing-off, with many viewers speculating that her competitor was soul star Gregory Porter.
Despite giving it her all with a cover of Proud Mary, the panel decided to send Tattoo home, prompting Carol to reveal her identity.
Although she appeared to take her elimination in stride on the ITV set, performing a final rendition of Human, she admitted after the credits rolled that she wasn’t ready to leave.
“I’ve loved it and I’m going to say, I’m gutted! Everybody is amazing. I’m gutted because it’s the best fun ever,” she said.
Although Carol is a massive fan of The Killers and Human, she admitted she would have preferred not to sing it again so soon,” reports Chronicle Live.
Many viewers were shocked she was eliminated, with one fan expressing their disappointment on social media: “Gutted to see Tattoo leave – wish we could have heard more from her! Carol Decker sounding better than ever – brought the house down with that unmistakable amazing arena-filling voice.”
The Masked Singer airs on ITV and ITVX
