Fans of the ITV quiz show Limitless Win were left fuming over one couple’s strategy in answering what they deemed a ‘very easy’ question.
In tonight’s episode (January 18), viewers were introduced to Karis and Tim, two A&E nurses who both worked for the NHS. In a heartwarming moment that came just minutes in, the couple were surprised by hosts Ant and Dec with both of their families, who were meeting for the first time backstage.
Tim described himself as a Jane McDonald superfan, with the Loose Women legend making a surprise cameo and joining the family backstage to cheer the couple on.
But despite the excitement in the studio, viewers were left flocking to social media to vent their frustration about how the couple had answered a seemingly simple question early on in the episode.
The pair’s first question to ascend the ladder was ‘How many words are there in the NATO phonetic alphabet?’, which prompted Karis to start listing the entire alphabet, one phonetic word at a time.
The couple ultimately answered correctly with 26, but fans of the show were frustrated at their method for getting there, pointing out they could have said the number of letters in the alphabet without having to go through each phonetic word.
“That’s a very easy start – why she trying to remember letters?” asked one viewer, as another penned: “Anyone who takes that long to work out how many letters there are in the alphabet doesn’t deserve the money.”
“Was counting the letters in the alphabet really necessary?” enquired another ITV fan. “26 letters – 26 words,” stated another.
“I swear the contestants on #limitlesswin just over think every question,” said one viewer.
Prior to their appearance on the episode, the couple shared what they thought their strengths were as a couple.
“We know that we work very well together; especially under pressure. We can make quick decisions, if we don’t know something we have that trust in each other where we can be comfortable saying “I don’t think that is the answer,” Tim shared.
Limitless Win airs on ITV from 8.30pm to 9.30pm on Saturdays
