Jack Draper exploded in anger during his Australian Open clash with Aleksandar Vukic on Friday, with the Briton also throwing his racket.

The tennis star is aiming to progress to the fourth round of the competition as he targets the first Grand Slam of his career.

Yet Draper was left furious with his performance levels during the third set of his match with Vukic.

The 23-year-old, who previously made the semi-finals of the US Open last year, swore as he sat down on his chair as the changeover before the 12th game.

Draper then proceeded to smash his racket to pieces, with Vukic eventually closing out the set to go 2-1 up.

Those present at the Margaret Court Arena booed the Briton following his fit of rage, with Vukic forced to wait before closing out the set.

Draper proceeded to go back to the locker room, while the 23-year-old could also be seen responding to some members of the crowd.

He waved his arms in the air and also grabbed his left knee, suggesting he was struggling with a small niggle.

Draper is aiming to become the first British men’s player to win the Australian Open in the open era.

Andy Murray was able to make five finals throughout his career but was beaten each and every time.

Murray lost his first Australian Open final to Roger Federer in 2010 before losing to Novak Djokovic in 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2016.

But Draper has plenty of work to do as he looks to etch his name into the history books.

Meanwhile, in other Australian Open news, Djokovic is through to the fourth round after beating Tomas Machac in straight sets.

And though the 37-year-old was pleased to reign supreme, he admitted he felt ‘very hot-headed’ following the clash at the Rod Laver Arena.

“I’m very hot-headed right now, so I’m going to try to give a calm and diplomatic answer,” he said.

“I think I played really well, honestly. I’m very happy with my game. I was slightly surprised with the result and to beat him in straight sets.
