A star from the popular Netflix dramedy XO, Kitty has revealed that the cast members have formed a close bond, maintaining a group chat named after the series.

The show, which is a spin-off from Jenny Han’s beloved To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before novels, launched its latest season on January 16.

This season continues to follow Kitty and her friends at the fictional Korean Independent School of Seoul, with the central character dealing with the aftermath of her first heartbreak from the previous season.

The second season sees the return of key cast members Anna Cathcart, Minyeong Choi, and Sang Heon Lee, alongside new faces Audrey Huynh, Sasha Bhasin, and Joshua Lee.

In an interview with the Irish Star before the show’s premiere, Joshua revealed that their camaraderie extends off-screen as well, reports the Irish Star.

“We have a group chat called kitty kitty meow meow. That’s where we send all of our birthday messages. Whenever people are in New York, which is where I’m based, we’ll try to hang out. Peter Thurnwald (who plays Alex) recently came to visit. Whenever we’re in each other’s cities we always hang out.”

“It’s become such a tight-knit group of friends. It really has been the kitty kitty meow meow takeover,” he shared.

Despite stepping into a show with a pre-existing fanbase, the Netflix actor expressed how warmly he was received by everyone involved.

“I remember being so nervous when I was on my way to Korea. The show had an existing fan base and the crew had already filmed season one, so I felt like a new kid on the block. But as soon as I stepped into the environment, they were so welcoming and so nice. Our show runner, writers, producers, directors, they were all so welcoming.”

When Joshua’s character, Jin, is first introduced to viewers in a tense scene with Dae (Minyeong Choi), he’s described as a “toxic alpha male.”

The New York-based actor shared that his role might stir some strong feelings amongst the audience, commenting: “Jin is very toxic, so I’m expecting to get flamed a little bit.”

Nonetheless, Jin has a noteworthy positive progression in the series and eventually becomes part of Kitty’s clan. While anticipating diverse reactions from the audience, he divulged his eagerness for a potential third season of the dramedy and his return to his character, saying: “There are talks of interesting storylines that I’m not quite at liberty to say right now. But I’m excited to see where a season three could go for each of our characters. And I would love there to be a season three.”

“If there is a season three, I would love for Jin to continue exploring what makes him happy.”
