The hunt continues for the female driver of an SUV that fled the scene of what police say is now a fatal crash.
Toronto Police said they responded to a personal injury collision involving a pedestrian on Jan. 9 at about 2:15 p.m. in the Warden Ave.-Eglinton Ave. E. area of Scarborough that involved a grey Volkswagen Atlas SUV.
Police said the Volkswagen was travelling on Ashtonbee Rd. east of Warden when it turned into a shopping plaza and struck and an 87-year-old woman in the parking lot.
The vehicle then fled the scene.
The woman was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries at the time of the crash, but police said she died of her injuries on Thursday.
Police released new images of a suspect and an additional image of the vehicle.
The suspect is a female with a slim build and long dark hair who was last seen wearing an orange jacket, a blue shirt, dark-coloured pants and dark-coloured shoes.
“Police are asking local residents, business owners and drivers who may have security or dash-camera footage of the area or incident to contact investigators,” Const. Ashley Visser said.
