A woman was left amazed after her first experience with the Too Good To Go scheme at Greggs.
The initiative aims to reduce food waste by offering discounted items that are nearing their sell-by dates. Customers don’t know what they’ll receive as it depends on the store’s stock and which items are close to expiring. This can result in a few cheap items or a bag full of goodies.
It’s a great option for those looking to save money, especially during the wait for January pay day. Becky, who shares thrifty tips on her Instagram account, Becky’s Bazaar, shared her review after paying £2.59 for a Greggs Too Good To Go bag.
She collected her bag from the Winwick Road branch in Warrington in the evening, scanned her code and left. Once back in her car, she revealed her haul.
The customer was given a bacon and cheese wrap, a chocolate éclair, two pink donuts, a four-pack of sausage rolls, a char-grilled chicken oval bite, and a chicken salad baguette.
“I can’t believe how much stuff I got,” exclaimed Becky.
Locals have been swift to express their amazement at the bounty of food Becky managed to procure. One person commented: “Definitely worth it, at least a tenner worth of food.”
Another highlighted the meal potential, remarking: “Wow 100% you could have sausage roll mash and beans for dinner, roll for lunch and one of the others for breakfast. Fantastic.”
A third added: “That’s breakfast and lunch sorted with doughnuts for snack time too.” While another keen observer stated: “You’ve not just got a Greggs bag, it contains sausage rolls… The elite Greggs bag!”
Someone else chimed in: “Omg amazing Greggs food is delicious and very well priced at least a tenner or more there.”
