A lorry driver is in a serious condition in hospital after a crash on the M5. Avon and Somerset Police said the flat-bed lorry left the motorway and crashed into trees on Monday morning, January 13.

The collision took place on the southbound carriageway between junction 21 for Weston-super-Mare and junction 22 for Burnham-on-Sea. Officers were called to the scene between 9.15am and 9.30am and are now appealing to the public for information.

The driver remains in a serious condition in hospital. Investigating officers are urging witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward.
