Neil Warnock has fired shots at Tyson Fury after the boxing icon announced his retirement from the sport earlier in the week.
Fury sensationally took to Instagram on Monday to announce that he wouldn’t be returning to the ring, just weeks after his defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia.
The 36-year-old was left frustrated after that loss, having felt he’d done enough to avenge his defeat to the same opponent earlier in the year.
Fury announced his retirement by saying: “Hi everybody, I’m going to make this short and sweet.

“I’d like to announce my retirement from boxing. It’s been a blast, I’ve loved every single minute of it.
“I’m going to end with this… Dick Turpin wore a mask. God bless everybody, see you on the other side. GET UP!”
As for Warnock, the former football boss has announced his retirement twice in the past – only to end up returning to the dugout.
The 76-year-old first said he’d be quitting in 2022, with his hiatus only lasting 10 months before he returned to manage Huddersfield Town.

Warnock later suggested he was done with football but did return to work as an advisor with non-league side Torquay United.
And the football cult hero has now fired shots at Fury by suggesting he’s ‘after his record’.
Writing on X, he said: “Only a few more retirements to go to catch me up , are you after my record?”
While Fury has seemingly quit boxing, not everybody is convinced.

Like Warnock he has announced his retirement several times in the past – only to end up returning to the ring.
While disappointed by his defeat to Usyk last month, a mouthwatering showdown with Anthony Joshua remains a possibility.
A clash between the two Britons would go down in boxing history.
And many feel Fury’s retirement announcement is simply a ruse so he can get an even bigger payday from any potential match.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, has been asked about Fury’s decision to quit.
When asked if he’d spoken with AJ since the bombshell dropped, he said: “I haven’t. Nope. Listen, one, we don’t really take it too seriously. Two, if it is serious there’s nothing we can do about it anyway.
“What do you think goes on? Do you think Josh is going to phone me up and go, ‘Oh Ed have you seen the news, mate?’
“He’s not that kind of guy.”

He added: “He could have been doing it because he’s got the hump. He could have been doing it for some attention.
