CARNEY’S GAMBIT
The Liberal plan now seems clear and well under way. Suppress opposition in the leadership vote and anoint Mark Carney as prime minister in March. Carney will then announce that he will axe the tax as his first priority. It is a dead duck anyway, as Carney realizes. Before calling Parliament, Carney will cobble together a budget with enough spending goodies to attract two-face Jagmeet Singh to switch once again and announce his support. Carney will settle in as PM. No election until October. Simple?

PIERRE WILL PIVOT
There is no doubt that Pierre Poilievre will follow the advice from Sun editors (“Trump hands Liberals an election lifeline,” Jan. 14) and re-rig his sails to adjust his approach to Trump. With only a few days until Trump takes office, the need for an individual with national credentials is urgent to address major issues around tariffs and the border. Hopefully, he will present a Canadian position which confirms and emphasizes the long-term trading and military relationship between the U.S. and Canada. We will then await the response from the new regime.

TRUDEAU SCAMMED US
Trudeau knew his time was up (should have been up two elections ago). Now, instead of placing a temporary prime minister in place, he shuts down our government to delay an election. Every Liberal who is trying for this position walked with Trudeau and is just as much to blame for the damage he has done to our country. We can only hope that certain Canadians are not going to fall for another one of Trudeau’s scams and vote Liberal again.

GOOD TOON
The editorial cartoon of Doug Ford (Jan. 10) is almost correct with one error. Pierre Poilievre should be shown right beside Doug as he is equally defensive about Canada as Ford is. Other than that, it is a perfectly fitting item.
