Two men have been arrested after police intercepted a stolen car in Belfast.
The incident happened at the Junction of York Street in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Police received a report that a vehicle had been stolen from the Carmel Street area of south Belfast at around 7.00pm on Monday, 13th January.
Officers were made aware that the vehicle, a blue Volkswagen Passat, had been reported stolen, and it was spotted by a local policing team on patrol in north Belfast just after midnight on Tuesday, 14th January.
The vehicle was stopped at the York Street junction and two men, aged 38 and 27, were arrested on suspicion of taking a motor vehicle without authority and handling stolen goods.
Sergeant White said: “This is a great example of the team work of our vigilant officers, who are committed to helping victims of crime, in action.
“Our enquiries continue and we would appeal to anyone who may be able to assist with our investigation into the theft, or who may have relevant CCTV , dashcam or other footage to contact us on 101.”
