A North Yorkshire town that seems to have it all could be the ideal spot for a day trip for people of all ages. Pateley Bridge, near Ripon, might just change your mind about the concept of perfection.

This charming location caters to everyone’s needs and is filled with friendly locals – what more could you ask for?

One of the first things that make Pateley Bridge stand out is its parking facilities. Both long and short stay car parks are available at a minimal cost, offering ample time to explore.

There’s plenty of space in both car parks, and they’re conveniently located next to the high street. This means you can easily return to your car to drop off shopping before heading to another shop, attraction or restaurant.

The layout of the town is straightforward, with businesses lining the road on either side, making navigation simple without the need for Google Maps. For those seeking entertainment, there’s plenty on offer, reports Yorkshire Live.

You can visit The Oldest Sweet Shop, indulge in the ‘country’s best hot chocolate’ at Cocoa Joes, explore the Nidderdale Museum, or browse The Tordoff gallery, which boasts movie posters ranging from £50 to £170,000.

This unique gallery is the only one outside London that sells authentic film posters, hence the owners’ amusement when asked about their high insurance costs and the number of fire extinguishers scattered around the room.

Further down the hill, a variety of takeaways were available, including a fish and chip shop and pancake house. There was also a ‘hidden gem’ area with additional shops and eateries, nestled amongst stunning historic buildings.

One of the standout features of Pateley Bridge is its celebration of local produce. The Crown Inn sources its burgers and other items from local butchers, a practice echoed throughout the village.

The local butchers even created their own version of a pasty, rivalling the traditional Cornish pasty. Pateley Bridge is a destination suitable for all weather conditions, offering everything one could need.

It’s hard to find fault with this charming North Yorkshire village, with its clean streets, friendly locals, and ample activities. We managed to enjoy a full day of fun before heading home, and we’re already planning our next visit in the summer to tick off the things we didn’t get to do this time!
