Princess Kate has today returned to the hospital where she received her chemotherapy treatment.
The Prince and Princess of Wales have become Joint Patrons of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.
The announcement follows the royal’s visit to the hospital based in Chelsea on Tuesday.
Kate received her own cancer treatment at The Royal Marsden in 2024.
During her visit, the princess met with current patients receiving treatment at the hospital.
She also spent time with staff members working across various roles within the facility, strengthening the connection between the Royal Family and this specialist cancer centre.
Dame Cally Palmer, Chief Executive of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, expressed delight at the new joint patronage.
She said: “We are incredibly fortunate to receive Royal Patronage – it is inspiring for staff and patients and enables us to shine a light on the outstanding work our staff deliver every day.”
The Royal Marsden made history when it opened in 1851 as the world’s first hospital dedicated to cancer diagnosis, treatment, research and education.
Today, the NHS Foundation Trust operates as a world-leading cancer centre across three sites in Chelsea, Sutton and Cavendish Square in central London.
