Fans of Love Island: All Stars have all had the same reaction after seeing Marcel Sommerville return to the franchise after eight years. Sommerville took part in season three of Love Island, coming fourth with partner Gabby Allen. The pair continued a relationship outside of the villa until 2018, when it was revealed that Sommerville had cheated.
At the time, Gabby wrote on Twitter (now X): “Thank you to everyone for your kind messages, love and support. It’s been a tough couple of days, I think I might still be in a bit of shock. But I’m sure, in time, I’ll be okay. I have the best family and friends around me. I’m a lucky girl.”
Then in 2020, Sommerville found love again with after meeting Rebecca Vieira. The couple welcomed their first child together in 2021, before tying the knot in 2022.
But Vieira went on to cheat on Sommerville according to reports, resulting in the couple deciding to divorce, although the process is still ongoing, meaning Sommerville is legally married whilst taking part in All Stars.
Upon entering the villa on Monday night, Sommerville was quickly grilled by both his co-stars and the audience.
During the episode, the girls were tasked with handing red flags to the boys and explaining why they deserved them. Elma Pazar, who was up first, gave hers to Sommerville for “being a cheater”
Sommerville was quick to admit he had been in the wrong and insisted he’s a changed man. “I put my hands up, I made a mistake but I’m now a very different person”.
When Sommerville entered the villa, Allen simply responded saying “oh my God” under her breath. Host Maya Jama then asks Allen if she’s okay to which she replies, “No it’s fine I mean it was a long time ago it’s just I just haven’t seen him since.”
The pair eventually talk about their breakup in the villa.
“I have mixed feelings about you, it’s nice to see you but I also think you’re a knob.” Allen continues, “When you actually think about what happened, Marc, what the f**k?”
“I regret it, I regret it,” Sommerville says. “I regret everything that I did and I apologise so much because I didn’t ever want to hurt you. Me doing that was out of character for me and I regretted it immediately.”
“Listen, I accept your apology,” Allen replies. “I don’t want it, like, to rule our whole time in here and I don’t want to hate each other.”
But social media wasn’t so forgiving.
On X, viewers were sharing their thoughts on Sommerville’s return, and most weren’t happy.
“Marcel slept with someone else while they were on holiday TOGETHER in their BED????? After God fear MEN”, wrote one user.
Another added, “I’ll pray for the woman that ends up w Marcel. A father, divorcee and a half, a cheater and old? Yh good luck”.
To the pair’s surprise, they were recoupled at the end of the first episode as result of a public vote.
