TV personality and animal welfare advocate, Pete Wicks, is set to star in For Dogs’ Sake, a new series in collaboration with Dogs Trust, where he serves as an ambassador.

A special screening was held today at the charity’s centre in Basildon, where Wicks treated staff members of Dogs Trust to a tour down the ‘red paw-pet’.

During his visit, Wicks spent time with puppies Nigel, Pepper and Dory, and was also joined by his former Strictly partner Jowita Pryzstal who came to show her support.

Wicks expressed his enthusiasm for the new project, stating: “Anyone who knows me knows that I prefer animals to people, so this show is a real passion project for me.”

He added: “With two rescue dogs of my own, animal welfare is close to my heart, and I am super excited to be teaming up with U&W for this amazing opportunity.”

The docu-series will follow Wicks as he works alongside Dogs Trust to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome vulnerable dogs. The series, which will air on U&W and U, offers behind-the-scenes access to Dogs Trust, delving into the individual stories of the dogs.

From the moment of rescue to their eventual rehoming, Wicks will play a key role in the dogs’ rehabilitation process.

Helen Nightingale, head of factual and factual entertainment at UKTV, commented on the collaboration, saying: “We’d be barking mad to turn down the opportunity to work with Pete Wicks and witness first hand his passion for dogs and their welfare.

“It’s a huge privilege being granted such unique access to Dogs Trust to see how the charity operates.”
