Actress Charlie Brooks has spoken candidly about her love life and her reason for competing on Dancing on Ice ahead of the new ITV series.

Brooks, 43, is famed for playing Janine Butcher on the iconic BBC soap EastEnders amidst a long career on screen.

The 43-year-old has been paired with Canadian figure skater Eric Radford, 39, in her bid to be crowned champion on the ice.

“If I can learn to do a little twizzle on the ice I’ll be very pleased,” the actress ITV about her expectations for the show.

“Getting a nice strong fit body and the glitz and glamour of it all. I’m more low key these days so to have an excuse to dress up and dance whilst my family come down and watch will be fun,” she continued.

The EastEnders legend’s enthusiasm stems from her new approach to life, catalysed by the end of her relationship with Ben Hollington – with whom she shares a daughter – in 2018.

Brooks declared: “As a 43-year-old single woman I am saying yes to the world!”

“Saying yes to things is my new life mantra, I’ve spent so much time overthinking things whereas now I’m in an era of my life where I just think why not,” she explained.

She explained the competition will take her out of the house and keep her fit, all the while helping her learn a “brilliant new skill”.

“I don’t ever like to be in my comfort zone, and this is taking me massively outside of my comfort zone,” the actress proclaimed.

Thinking ahead to her own performance on the show, Brooks admitted dancing was “not my strong point” even if she believed she may still have “some moves up my sleeve.”

“No, I went to the ice skating rink as a kid and I’m not terrible. I can make my way around but that’s all I can do,” she conceded about her previous experience on ice.

There to cheer Brooks on will be her “very close knit” group of family and close friends who will be “on the front row supporting me.”

Even with her confidence going in, Brooks admitted she had some trepidation about the possibility of getting injured.

“I’m nervous about being let down by my body but I’ve already started daily exercises to ensure I’m prepped and ready for training,” she added.

Accordingly, Brooks has been keeping fans updated on her training journey.

Most recently, she shared a clip of her and Radford training on the ice – with her being held upside down as the pro glided around the rink.

“I am loving this experience more than I could have ever imagined,” she wrote in an earlier post.
