Celebrity chef James Martin has spoken candidly about the challenges of maintaining his healthy diet while working, despite achieving an impressive three-stone weight loss. James, who rose to fame in the 1990s on various cooking shows, underwent a significant lifestyle transformation after appearing on Strictly Come Dancing in 2005, shedding weight from 17st to 14st.

The 52 year old chef revealed that he used to fuel his hectic schedule with unhealthy snacks like takeaway pizza and chocolate bars, but has since overhauled his diet to include regular fish consumption, fruits, and vegetables. Although he has a home gym, James prefers to stay active by walking, often clocking 20,000 to 30,000 steps daily.

However, working around food all day still poses difficulties, and James admits to being tempted to “pick at bits” while in the kitchen. In an interview with the Leicester Mercury, James shared, “Everything’s a balance – certainly as you get older with your diet. You get to 52 and you’re working in the kitchen, you run around the kitchen, [but] you’re not 22 anymore.”

He added, “You’re still working the hours, your brain is telling you, but your legs are telling you otherwise.”

James Martin, the celebrity chef and motorsport enthusiast, has opened up about his diet and weight loss journey, reports Surrey Live.

He particularly loves cheese but believes in maintaining a “happy medium”. Nearly ten years after shedding pounds on Strictly Come Dancing, James acknowledges an unexpected benefit to his weight loss.

He confessed on the Spooning with Mark Wogan podcast: “It comes down to the fact that I race cars, or I still try and race a few cars and I actually struggle to get out of them now.”

He added, “Getting in them, you kind of fall in them, but then you’ve got to get out of them and it just doesn’t look very good. I don’t go to the gym, [my weight loss] it comes down to the fact that I can get my a**e in and out of a car.”

Today on ITV’s Saturday Morning, James will be chatting with actor James Buckley and his wife Clair, while chefs Romy Gill and James Tanner whip up some mouth-watering dishes.
