A doctor who frequently appears on BBC Morning Live has shared a drink she swears by for boosting her health. Not only is it delicious, but she describes it as having “healing powers” that can strengthen the immune system.

With cold and flu season in full swing, Dr. Punam Krishan, a Glasgow-based GP, says this is the ideal time to prepare her “mum’s trusted golden milk.” She calls it “a healing hug in a mug.”

Dr. Krishan has shared how to make this comforting drink, and the recipe is detailed below. While any type of milk can be used, she prefers cow’s milk for this recipe. Speaking about the ingredients, she highlights their “healing properties,” which make this drink especially beneficial when you’re feeling under the weather.

She said: “My mum used to give us this drink throughout winter to nourish our immune systems and we always took it whenever we were poorly. Haldi Doodh (golden milk) is super easy to make and if you like those wholesome Indian chai flavours, you will love this.”
