In the latest twist of BBC’s The Traitors, viewers are convinced that a contestant has let slip a sizeable pointer in the gripping game after making an emotional judgement.
During Thursday’s episode (January 9), the drama intensified when, taking a different turn from their usual tactics, the Traitors Linda and Minah chose not to kill a Faithful but to extend an offer to another player. Anna became the focus of their scheme, receiving a controversial invite to join the Traitors ranks after the trio was shortlisted by Linda and Minah.
Previously having faced accusations at an intense Round Table even from Dan, whom she considered a close comrade, Anna grappled with her feelings before ultimately choosing to turn down the offer and stay loyal to the Faithfuls.
The show’s host Claudia Winkleman then relayed Anna’s decision, ensuring all participants advanced to the following day. As the show concluded, fans immediately took to social media to dissect the episode, with a majority pointing out that Anna might have overlooked an important hint that could aid her in identifying the Traitors, reports Wales Online.
Comments flooded in with one viewer noting: “‘Strong independent woman’ is a HUGE clue. Anna could use that if she refused.” Echoing this, another chimed in, adding: “Ohhhhh and now with the invite saying it’s because she’s a strong independent woman now anna probably knows the traitors are women?”
One viewer speculated that the style of writing on Anna’s invitation could reveal the author, suggesting: “‘Strong independent women’ written in classic bubble handwriting highlighting there is a young, female traitor…”
Another fan questioned the wording, asking: “Why would you write ‘strong independent woman’ on the recruitment letter? She knows you’re probably all women now. So dumb.”
They also criticised the lack of persuasion in the message, stating: “We want to recruit you because you are a strong independent woman’ lol please they didn’t even try to sound convincing, they just want a patsy.”
A different viewer suggested that this was the first misstep by Traitor Minah in the series, whose previous decisions have positioned her as a favourite to win. They commented: “First mistake Minah’s made I feel. Why pick one of two players with a lot of heat on them? Poor choices I feel….”
The Traitors continues tomorrow at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
