The already-delayed football clash between Dr Crokes and Errigal Ciaran has been switched to Newbridge as GAA chiefs battle against sub-zero temperatures in a bid to keep the finale of the All-Ireland club season on track.

Both of the AIB club senior football semi-finals, originally fixed for last Sunday, were postponed the day before because of unplayable pitches and against the backdrop of adverse weather forecasts.

Initially, the Crokes/Errigal Ciaran tie was again refixed for Portlaoise with the meeting of Cuala and Coolera Strandhill once more pencilled in for Kingspan Breffni.

However, the latest weekend fixture details announced by Croke Park reveals that the Kerry and Tyrone champions will now meet at Cedral St Conleth’s Park rather than Laois Hire O’Moore Park “following a pitch inspection earlier today.”

Throw-in time remains 3pm this Saturday, while the Cuala/Strandhill showdown follows in Cavan at 5pm. Both games will be shown live on TG4.

The two senior club finals, in football as well as hurling, are pencilled in for Croke Park just eight days later, on Sunday, January 19.

The revamped and recently reopened home of Kildare GAA has quickly emerged as a popular neutral venue. It hosted the All-Ireland club SHC semi-final between Sarsfields (Cork) and Slaughtneil (Derry) before Christmas and can now prepare for a bonus football fixture this weekend.
