Chaos erupted on Lorraine during Wednesday morning’s live broadcast, with a surprise interruption taking centre stage.
The Scottish presenter handed the spotlight over to Andi Peters who was broadcasting from Glasgow to share details of the latest ITV competition.
While Andi relayed competition specifics, the sound of a car horn blared in the background as he quipped that he was “big in Glasgow”.
His remark appeared to be prophetic when a woman approached to take a picture with him mid-broadcast, not realising he was on air.
Andi remarked: “Yes, it is me, Andi Peters. I would take a picture, but we are live on the telly, madam. Do carry on!” Undeterred by the cameras, the woman pressed for a selfie with him.
Andi responded: “You can have a selfie but later, I’m running out of time! Sorry I’ve got to-” He then had a swift change of heart and posed alongside her for the photo.
Back in the studio, Lorraine Kelly couldn’t contain her laughter as she watched the unfolding mayhem before preparing to talk to Strictly celebrity Pete Wicks, reports the Daily Record.
Engaging with the woman, who shared her name was Fiona, Andi enquired: “Do you like watching Lorraine?” However, an awkward moment ensued as Fiona admitted: Well, no, because I work! I can’t watch Lorraine.”
To which Andi retorted: “No, don’t say that because Lorraine is right there!”. Upon realising her gaffe, Fiona waved at the camera greeting the Scottish host and quickly added: “I love Lorraine!”
After their amusing exchange, Andi playfully nudged her out of the shot, quipping: “Sorry about that Lorraine, she said she works, it’s not a very valid excuse, I mean really! Whatever, Fiona, I want that picture back!”
Once the audience had been briefed on the ITV competition details, the camera returned to Lorraine in the studio, who was still chuckling over the disruption.
Addressing the viewers, she exclaimed: “Good luck to you, I love Glasgow!”
Post the comical incident, Lorraine continued the show by chatting with Pete Wicks about his new television project, Pete Wicks: For Dogs’ Sake.
In this heartwarming series, the Strictly celebrity will delve into the realm of canine welfare at the Dogs Trust rehoming centre in Basildon.
Lorraine continues weekdays on ITV from 9am.
