A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a shooting in Co Antrim on Monday night.
The 29-year-old remains in custody while another man was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.
The incident took place in the Beverley Road area of Newtownabbey, where cordons were in place as police attended the scene on Monday night.
The ordeal occurred just before 10pm. Photographs from the scene showed a large police presence, including armed officers and sniffer dogs. The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) was also at the scene.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the NIAS confirmed one person was taken to hospital.
“The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 21:40 on Monday 6 January following reports of an incident in the Fairview Avenue area of Newtownabbey, “ they said.
“NIAS despatched two Emergency Crews and two Ambulance Officers to the incident. Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was taken by ambulance to RVH in Belfast.”
