A person has been taken to hospital following a suspected shooting in Newtownabbey.
The ordeal occurred just before 10pm on Monday evening at a property in the Fairview Avenue area of Carnmoney.
Photographs from the scene show a large police presence, including armed officers and sniffer dogs. The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) is also at the scene.
Several homes in the area have been surrounded with police tape.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the NIAS confirmed one person was taken to hospital.
“The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 21:40 on Monday 6 January following reports of an incident in the Fairview Avenue area of Newtownabbey, “ they said.
“NIAS despatched 2 Emergency Crews and 2 Ambulance Officers to the incident. Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was taken by ambulance to RVH in Belfast.”
