Toronto Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a male suspect after two cases of vandalism at a synagogue.
Cops say they received two calls for mischief in December at a synagogue in the Bayview Ave. and York Mills Rd. area.
In the first incident on Dec. 2, it was reported that a suspect vandalized the signs on synagogue’s front lawn and then fled in a newer model dark grey Ford pickup truck.
Police believe the same suspect was responsible for doing the same thing again on Dec. 20.
The suspect is described as a middle-age man with a medium build and a moustache. He was wearing a black hoodie, dark pants and a Yukon-style hat in the first incident.
In the second incident, he was wearing a black jacket and a baseball hat.
Police are describing it as a suspected hate-motivated mischief investigation, noting that wilful promotion of hatred and advocating genocide are hate propaganda (hate speech) offences which require the attorney general’s consent to lay charges which are often laid at a later time.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-3500 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477) or 222tips.com.
