Award-winning Bristolian comedian and actress Jayde Adams has joined the line-up of the very first Bristol Comedy Festival, which takes place between Sunday, January 12, and Saturday, January 25.
The festival is described as a celebration of comedy in all its forms, featuring more than 100 events, performances, and workshops, taking place across the city. Jayde will be closing the festival, which also features the likes of Mark Watson, Helen Bauer, Tom Rosenthal and more.
Jayde, who was the winner of the 2016 Edinburgh Fringe Best Newcomer award, is now known for her roles in ITV’s Ruby Speaking, and the BAFTA winning Alma’s Not Normal. She’ll be performing on Saturday, January 25 at Dareshack.
Jayde said: “It’s about time Bristol got its own comedy festival. Bristol isn’t just one of the coolest cities in the UK – it’s THE coolest. I’m thrilled to be performing in the very first festival, but honestly, I’m just as excited about gigging 10 minutes up the road from my house. And yes, I’ll be bringing my DJ skills for later on as well – Bristol deserves nothing less.”
Recognised by comedy legend Dawn French as the “third funniest woman in the world”, Jayde’s performance at the festival will see her trial new material and promises to be a highlight of the two-week ‘comedy extravaganza’.
Burt Williamson, Bristol Comedy Festival co-founder, said: “Having Jayde Adams headline our festival is a testament to the talent Bristol nurtures. Her journey from local performer to household name mirrors what we aim to achieve in creating opportunities for comedians and bringing world-class acts to Bristol venues.”
The festival is supported by Bristol City Centre Business Improvement District (BID) and will raise funds for TAP for Bristol, with donations made at the festival’s events supporting homelessness services across the city.
