Last night The Traitors returned to our screens as season three kicked off for the perfect start to 2025. The much loved game show is back, where 22 strangers live in a castle in the Scottish Highlands, trying to work out who among them are traitors.
It is the job of the traitors to murder their fellow players whilst avoiding detection, whilst the others – known as the Faithful – must complete tasks and figure out who the traitors are in order to win the prize money.
If the Faithful manage to successfully banish all the traitors, they can win up to £120,000. However, if even one traitor remains, they take all the money.
The show, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, is incredibly popular, with last season’s final reaching a peak audience of 6.9 million. As fans tuned in to the first two episodes of the latest series, the twists and turns proved shocking, memorable, and sometimes hilarious.
So here’s a round up of some of the best moments from episodes one and two, spoilers ahead.
Early eviction
It wasn’t long before there was a shocking twist in the first episode.
As the players rode on the train that would take them to the castle, an unexpected announcement was played aloud. One player from each carriage had to leave. Each carriage had ten minutes to decide who was going to leave, for every minute they didn’t decide, they lost £1,000 from the prize money.
Three players, Fozia, Jack and Alexander, left after three minutes. It’s not known whether they will return in a plot twist further in the series, but audiences couldn’t believe three players had already been banished.
Charlotte’s fake Welsh accent
One contestant decided to lie from the beginning, before they even knew if they were a traitor or a faithful. That contestant was Charlotte from London, who decided to put on a fake Welsh accent. Fans found the move strange and somewhat funny.
Linda’s look
One of the traitors, Linda, found herself under suspicion after she not-so-discreetly turned her head when Claudia addressed the traitors.
Audiences couldn’t believe she would give it away so easily, although she remains in the game… for now.
Armani’s advice
Finally, at the end of episode two traitor Armani told her fellow traitors Linda and Minah that they need to do more as traitors, as she felt like she was the only one taking charge in her role.
Minah said she would not be taking Armani’s advice during her confessional, and fans are rooting for her.
And there’s so much more to come.
