A Thai tapas and cocktail bar on Cotham Hill is opening a brand new branch on Bedminster’s North Street. Mangosteen, which opened in March on Cotham Hill, has announced that its second site will be at 273 North Street – the former home of Turkish restaurant, Sazz Mezze, in 2025.

No official opening date has been announced as of yet, with the team taking to social media over the Christmas period to urge people to ‘stay tuned’, adding ‘things are taking shape’ and ‘we’re almost there’.

Fans and locals were quick to share their excitement at the news on Instagram. One wrote: “This is very exciting! Can’t wait to come and try your food!”

While a second said: “This has genuinely made our year. Can’t wait for you guys to open. Welcome to BS3.”

Mangosteen’s first site sits in the former home of Pasta Loco, along the pedestrianised street. It boasts “South-east Asian flavours, fresh food, prepared very quickly by a team of experienced chefs, a loud and lively atmosphere, friendly staff, and a small but ‘really solid’ selection of wine and cocktails.

Some of the items on the menu at time of writing include small plates like crispy honey chilli beef, spring rolls, and Tom Yam soup, as well as a range of seafood, curry, noodles and rice. There’s even a lunchtime tapas deal, in which you choose any four from a selection of dishes, and mix and match any two drinks – all for £25 (between Friday-Sunday, 12-4pm).
