An Irish League club has paid tribute after the sudden death of a much-loved member of its bar staff on New Year’s Day.

Arlene Hardy passed away suddenly on Wednesday at her home in Dungannon, Co Tyrone.

The mother-of-three worked at the social club at Loughgall FC, where she was a popular and well-known face.

The club posted a tribute which said: “With heavy hearts we share the passing of our much loved barmaid Arlene, like a mother figure amongst our bar staff and more than a barmaid to our customers.

“Arlene will be sorely missed by everyone in the club but especially by her wee family. We will be keeping them in our thoughts.

“Rest easy Arlene.”

Fans and officials at the club posted tributes to Ms Hardy, describing it as “heartbreaking” and “devastating” news.

One friend posted: “The kindest person with the biggest smile and hugs. Blessed to have worked with Arlene and to have memories to treasure.”

Also paying tribute were Loughgall players including Nathaniel Ferris and Ally Teggart.

Mr Ferris posted: “Heartbreaking news. Such a lovely person. Thoughts are with her family and friends.”
