Ruben Amorim has maintained his firm stance on Marcus Rashford’s exclusion from the Manchester United squad following their 2-0 Boxing Day defeat to Wolves.

The manager has now left Rashford out of United’s last four matches across all competitions.

When questioned about whether the 27-year-old forward could help the team after their latest loss, Amorim made it clear he would not change his position.

“We have to be the same professionals, I have to be the same guy winning or losing,” Amorim told Amazon Prime.

“Losing, I have to be stronger so I will continue with my idea until the end,” he added, emphasising his unwavering position.

The manager’s comments came in direct response to questions about Rashford’s potential return to the squad.

When asked if Rashford had shown anything different since being left out, Amorim delivered a terse response.

“If he is not here you can make up your mind,” the United manager replied bluntly.

United will be without two key players for their upcoming match against Newcastle United on December 30.

Bruno Fernandes received a red card against Wolves after being shown two yellow cards.

Manuel Ugarte will also miss the fixture after picking up his fifth booking in the league, triggering an automatic one-match suspension.

The absences add to United’s challenges as they look to bounce back from their Boxing Day defeat.

Addressing the team’s performance, Amorim acknowledged the need for improvement in relationships within the squad.

“We have to improve the relationships but we have some moments, I think we lack a little bit of aggression,” he explained.
