Formula One legend Michael Schumacher is set to become a grandfather, as his daughter Gina-Marie has announced she is expecting a baby girl.
The 27-year-old equestrian champion shared the joyful news on Instagram, posting a heartwarming photograph featuring pink ‘new baby’ balloons alongside a young foal in a picturesque field.
“Impatiently awaiting the arrival of our little girl,” wrote Gina-Marie in the caption of her social media announcement.
The happy news comes just months after Gina-Marie wed her husband Iain Bethke at the Schumacher family’s luxurious villa in Majorca.
The wedding ceremony earlier this year was notably inclusive, welcoming family friends who are typically kept at a distance from the private sphere of the Schumachers.
German media reported that Michael Schumacher himself was in attendance at the celebration, marking what would have been his first public appearance in over a decade.
Due to the family’s strict privacy measures, guests were required to leave their mobile phones at the door to prevent any unauthorised photographs being taken of the seven-time F1 champion.
The intimate gathering took place at the family’s Mediterranean estate, maintaining the careful balance between celebration and privacy that has become characteristic of the Schumachers.
Since Michael Schumacher’s skiing accident in the French Alps in December 2013, which left him requiring round-the-clock medical care, his wife Corinna has maintained a protective shield around his privacy.

Speaking about caring for her husband, Corinna revealed: “It’s not just me who misses him. It’s the children, the family, his father, everyone around him. Everybody misses Michael, but Michael is here – different, but here.”
The family continues to reside together at their Lake Geneva home, where Corinna, alongside medical professionals, helps care for the now 55-year-old racing icon.
“He still shows me how strong he is every day,” Corinna added, highlighting her husband’s enduring spirit.
Mick Schumacher expressed his enthusiasm about becoming an uncle, stating he was “so excited” about the happy news.
The family continues to maintain their close bond, with Corinna emphasising their commitment to Michael’s care and comfort.
“We do therapy. We do everything we can to make Michael better and to make sure he’s comfortable,” Corinna shared.
“We’re trying to carry on as a family, the way Michael liked it and still does. And we are getting on with our lives. It’s very important to me that he can continue to enjoy his private life as much as possible.
“Michael always protected us, and now we are protecting Michael.”
