NORTH AND SOUTH
Former prime minister Jean Chretien didn’t cower when Republicans tried to make a scapegoat of the Canadian border with exaggerated claims about illegals and drugs coming from the North. No, Chretien reminded their ilk that the traffic, legal and illegal, across our shared border moves in both directions. So, why isn’t Trudeau demanding that the States stop illegals, drugs and guns from entering Canada?

PROCUREMENT PROBLEMS
Given the recent remarks by Donald Trump regarding Canada as the “51st state,” perhaps Canada should be rethinking its decision to purchase the Lockheed Martin F35 fighter jet and other decisions to more closely integrate with the American military. Maybe Canada should revisit the original procurement decision and go with the Saab Gripen. At this point, I think that Sweden would probably be a better friend to Canada than the U.S.

TRUDEAU THE DICTATOR
With the resignation of Chrystia Freeland it occurs to me that Canada has a government system where the political party in power elects a prime minister. That PM can, in fact, act like a dictator. We know from Justin Trudeau’s own words that he admires the “basic dictatorship” of China. He knew then that he was going to run to become Canada’s next dictator. I’ve never heard or seen another PM look at their position in that way. The arrogance is staggering. To tell Freeland he didn’t want her as finance minister any longer and then tell her that he wants her to read the Fall Economic Statement is arrogance to a maximum degree. Props to Freeland for not doing it. Then, as one commentator said, she pinned her resignation letter to his chest using a big shiny knife. Trudeau’s time is finally up. The emperor doth have no clothes.
