A massive 900-mile snow bomb is set to strike the UK, leaving no part of England untouched. The most recent weather maps and charts indicate that places from Plymouth, Devon, and Cornwall up to Scotland’s northernmost point are in for flurries.

The charts by WX Charts, based on Met Desk weather projections, suggest a chilling -10C freeze and deteriorating conditions on the year’s final day. Flurries are expected to start falling around midday on December 31, potentially accumulating up to 10cm by 6pm, particularly hammering regions in the North West and North East.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, weather expert Jim Dale, who is the senior meteorologist and founder of British Weather Services, advised those planning to celebrate New Year’s Eve to “keep their fingers on the pulse” due to the impending threat of “severe wind and snow” as we usher in 2025.

He further cautioned: “It’s an early warning that we could well be in for some hazardous weather to bring in 2025.”

A preliminary BBC forecast for New Year outlines: “It seems possible that the rather settled conditions could return to some extent during the first week of the new year, at least in the south-western and western areas of the UK”, reports Birmingham Live.

This forecast, which covers the period from December to January 6, continues: “By contrast, the rest of the country may see wetter and windier conditions. Temperatures could remain above average, following a brisk west to occasional north-westerly flow pattern. There is still a slight chance of colder spells making their way through at times, especially across Scotland where wintry precipitation seems likely.”

“The second week of January still offers a more settled pattern across southern and western areas. Then the long-range weather models predict a stronger high pressure pattern near or over parts of the UK for a time. This will lead to calmer and drier, but possibly also duller conditions, particularly across the aforementioned regions. It could remain or turn a little wetter and windier in northern and eastern parts in particular. Temperatures are expected to be above average.”
