A man who was found injured in Toronto’s Corso Italia neighbourhood early Saturday and later died in hospital is believed to be the city’s latest murder victim.

Toronto Police say officers located the victim when they responded to a report of “an injured person” in the area of St. Clair Ave. W. and Lansdowne Ave. around 2:50 a.m.

The man was rushed by emergency run to hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said in a message posted Saturday on X.

The victim’s name and age are not yet known.

And no suspect description has been released.

A section of St. Clair Ave. W., between Earlscourt Ave. and Lansdowne Ave., was cordoned off with yellow crime scene tape Saturday morning.

The investigation is ongoing.

Police did not immediately reveal how the man was killed, but he would be the city’s 84th murder victim so far this year – 43 of those victims were gunned down, 22 were fatally stabbed and 18 are listed in the “other” category.

The city endured 69 homicides in all of 2023 – 27 were shootings, 23 were stabbings and 19 were listed in the “other” category.
