Mission: Impossible, Jurassic World, and Avatar are leading the charge as 2025’s most eagerly awaited films, according to a survey of 2,000 adults.
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is set to be the year’s biggest hit, with fans keen to see Tom Cruise return as Ethan Hunt in what’s expected to be an explosive finale.
Jurassic World: Rebirth is snapping at its heels as the fourth entry in the dinosaur-packed series, while Avatar: Fire and Ash, the next instalment in James Cameron’s blockbuster sci-fi franchise, is also generating major excitement.
The list of must-see movies for 2025 also includes 28 Years Later, adding to Danny Boyle’s post-apocalyptic narrative, and the eleventh chapter of the high-octane Fast and Furious saga.
“Avatar: Fire and Ash is the early favourite to smash the $1bn (£974k) mark at the box office,” said Jake Ashton from OLBG, the firm behind the study.
He commented on the anticipation surrounding these titles: “The previous two films in the franchise both went above and beyond, hitting the $2bn mark (£1.58m) making them some of the highest-grossing films of all time.”
He also noted that Jurassic World: Rebirth could replicate the financial success of its forerunners, potentially raking in $1bn just like the previous three instalments.

The study shed light on the UK’s cinema-going habits, revealing that one in five Brits head to the movies every few months, with 15 per cent attending monthly. In a positive turn, 20 per cent of those surveyed plan to increase their cinema visits in 2025, while only 10 per cent anticipate going less often.
Price is a significant factor for film fans, who are willing to spend up to £10.98 per ticket. Comfortable seats are important to 56 per cent of moviegoers, and 45 per cent value a cinema’s location when deciding where to watch a film.
Reflecting on 2024, ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ took the top spot as the year’s favourite film, closely followed by ‘Gladiator II’ featuring Paul Mescal. Family favourites like ‘Despicable Me 4’ and ‘Wicked’ were also among the most popular.
The survey highlighted that entertainment value is the primary draw for 64 per cent of cinema visitors, with 38 per cent eager to catch new releases and 32% valuing the experience as a way to spend time with loved ones.
When it comes to company, partners are the preferred choice for 56 per cent of respondents, while friends accompany 16 per cent, and 10 per cent enjoy films alone. Action movies lead the genre preference at 45 per cent, with thrillers at 38 per cent and comedies at 36 per cent.
Ashton commented: “Next year, movie lovers are in for a treat, with some of the most popular franchises releasing their latest instalments.
“Let’s see what the UK public has to say – sometimes it’s the films we least expect which provide us with the most entertainment”.
